SRF Gurukul is a cultural initiative of SRF Foundation dedicated to preserving and promoting the timeless tradition of Indian classical music, with a special focus on the Maihar Gharana. Rooted in the guru–shishya parampara, the program nurtures young musicians through immersive mentorship, discipline, and experiential learning. Students receive specialised sitar training under the guidance of acclaimed sitarist Parimal Sadaphal, a senior disciple in the lineage of Pandit Ravi Shankar, ensuring authenticity and depth in learning.
Beyond technical training, the Gurukul emphasises cultural immersion by exposing students to prestigious classical music festivals and legendary performers, strengthening their connection to India’s musical heritage. The initiative also works to document rare compositions, techniques, and oral histories of the Maihar tradition, safeguarding this legacy for future generations. Through SRF Gurukul, SRF Foundation continues its commitment to cultural preservation while inspiring a new generation of artists devoted to excellence.
