Sanjay is a social engineer with over 25 years of experience in designing and executing change strategies to advance program outcomes and promote child rights in India, South Asia, and West Africa, spanning both development and humanitarian contexts. Having worked in 5 UNICEF Offices across India and West Africa, Sanjay is still on move, and has thrived in roles ranging from Social and Behaviour Change Specialist to WASH Specialist, DRR and Gender focal points.
As Emergency specialist, he adeptly orchestrated disaster risk reduction and mitigation strategies, following Ebola, floods, drought, cyclone, tsunami and pandemic influenza outbreaks. He contributed towards drafting the document “Minimum standards of education in emergency situation”
Grounded in the belief of conversation for creative solutions, he’s equally dedicated towards balancing both results and relationships. Sanjay brings unique experience of coaching team on contemporary management practices and communication skills, especially adapting communication styles to effectively deal with different leadership styles. He has successfully led large teams; mobilized large-scale donor support and facilitated meaningful organizational change management processes.
His core experience of forging mission driven partnerships with multi-lateral agencies, Government Ministries, Civil Societies, Research and Academic institutions is exemplified by his recent collaboration with 69 universities across 24 states in India for roll out of social and behaviour change curriculum.
Sanjay holds a master’s degree from Xavier Institute of Social Services, Ranchi with specialization in project management and is currently pursuing his PhD from IIT, Delhi.
Outside the boardroom. Sanjay is an avid sports enthusiast, especially cricket, lawn tennis and golf. He’s also a music aficionado and he finds solace in long drives.
